Compilation requirements
========================

o Basic obvious stuff:
 - a functional GNU/Linux operating system (at least glibc 2.1.2)
 - "Development" packages installed (i.e. gcc 2.95.2, GNU make 3.79.1 etc.)
 - a root account for system-wide installation (NOT mandatory even if it's
   default)
 - autoconf/automake will be required later

o Simple DirectMedia Library stuff:
 - SDL (1.2.4 and maybe >=1.2.0, but untested)
 - SDL_image (1.2.2), including support for png files (libpng 1.2.x or
   1.0.x series)
 - sound support (optional): SDL_mixer (>=1.2.4),
   including Ogg Vorbis support (libvorbis >=1.0)

Other versions of the requested software might work but they
aren't guaranteed at all.
All this stuff can be found at http://freshmeat.net or on your favorite
software search engine (depending on the OS).

Supported systems
=================

x86 platforms:
Until now, this product has been sucessfully tested on GNU/linux, BeOS, QNX.

PPC platforms:
Currently none.

Installation
============

Enter the root directory of the sources (where the file you're reading
is expected to be) then:
	./configure
if you don't have root access and install DMOE for one user, you have to
set the prefix path for installation like this (for instance):
	./configure --prefix=$(pwd)/dist
for testing purposes (all files will be created in the source tree), use:
	./configure --prefix=$(pwd)/dist --disable-home
then
	make
then
	make install
or
	make install-strip
For a system-wide installation, perform the last command as a granted user,
as root.
Try ./configure --help to see which settings could help you in
configuring, compiling and installing.

Use:
====

Create a .DMOE directory in your home. Saved files (game files, screenshots,
etc.) will be stored in this directory, excepted if you've used
--disable-home with ./configure.
Now, following your configuration, you would just have to type 'DMOE'.
Type 'DMOE --help' to get see which options can be set thru the
command-line.

De-installation
===============

Type 'make uninstall' from the root of the source tree and eventually
'make distclean' to clean up the source directories (it removes any
generated file).
